Goals and Resolutions

7 Steps for Goals and Resolutions

1. Write a list on a sheet of paper.

At this stage this is just one or two words as reminders e.g. improve my back, be more tidy at home, look after car better etc etc.

2. Sort into priority

This helps you decide what is important and what is really imprtant for you to achieve.  The higher the priority the higher the motivation and grreater chance of success. This process also makes you realise justy hoe serious you are for each goal.

3. Be SMART with your goals

SMART is an acronym for Smart, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound

Smart - is your goal clever? will it hekp you achieve something better in your life? How well did you considerm it?

Measurable - how will you know when you have achieved it?  e.g. My waist will measure ... inches when i have lost the weight that I want ;or my bamk statement will show...;  or my back pain has gone.

For not material goals the measurement should be on the degrfee of benefit. e.g. By being more outgoing I am socialising more this year.

Achievable - are you capable of achieving the goal? There is no point setting goals which are not achievable by you. (Not everyone can be 7 feet tall if you desirte to be taller).

Realistic - to earn £30,000,000, this next year is not realistic for most of us!

Timebound - when do you expect to achieve this by? 6 months 12 months or longer? Write a date next to your goal. "sometime" is almost as bad as never! Better to put the date - " by the 1st September  (year) I will have achieved ...

4. Write down your goals on good paper

Take your time to write down your goals fully on a bound notebook with a pen, not using a computer printer. This is the 1st stage in the manifestation process. Writing moves the mental concept  ouot of yoru head and into the real visible world. By writing on good paper helps you respect your goals more. Also you will be referrring back to your goals for a year or so, hence a good bound notebook.

5. Take care with whom you share your goals.

Not everyone is as positive as you are. Sadly there are some people who will say things such as:

"Oh you could never do that". or That is going to be a waste of time".

Only share your goals with people with whom you trust, and who will be positive and supportive.

6. Create an action plan

The action plan is the how and when for you to achieve your goal.  Your action plan also needs to be SMART.

7. Be prepared to modify your goals.

Your goals are not fixed in stone and you should be prepared to modify them as circumstances dictate. You may wish to increase some goals and lessen others, if you find that they are over ambitipous.
