Self Development Seminars:

I should like to share the good experiences I have of Tim’s work – often dramatically effective!  I have come a long way from the initial consultations for ‘cranial osteopathy’, which overcame significant physical problems, to a much better mental/physical balance based on the techniques learned in his workshops.  A dramatic example was the recurrence on a mountain descent of a knee injury, which I overcame by taking time out for self-healing before continuing as if there had been no problem!  Now I am establishing an easier approach in several aspects of life, aiming for prevention rather than cure!

Life Coaching:

16 April 07

Dear Reader

I have pleasure in writing to let you know how beneficial the sessions I have had with Tim at his practice in Ambleside have been.

The life coaching he helped me with has unscrambled my thoughts and helped evaluate what I wanted out of my life and business, giving me a clear idea of what I wanted and how to go about achieving this.

My main problem is that I have a serious lack of time. Tim's help has enabled me to use my time more efficiently, let alone giving me more direction and confidence, and a more confident attitude.

I can honestly say that this has been the best money I have ever spent on myself.

I look forward to future sessions.

Yours sincerely ,

Osteopathy:

28 February 2007

Dear reader,

In the Summer of 2006 I was taken ill whilst walking in the Lake District.  Subsequent medical examinations revealed that I had high blood pressure (hypertension).  Over the course of the next six months I had regular appointments with my doctor.  During this period my diastolic (lower figure) blood pressure remained consistently high.  My doctor advised me to adjust my life-style – specifically that I should lose weight, reduce my alcohol intake, modify my diet and take more exercise.  I spectacularly managed to avoid doing any of these things.

After six months of no change my doctor raised the possibility of using medication to control my blood pressure.  I was horrified at the thought.  The British Heart Foundation booklet, that I subsequently read, alerted me to the serious potential consequences of hypertension.  Many sufferers do not get the early warning opportunity that I had been given.

About this time I attended a talk that Tim Marris gave to a group of local business men and women.  I knew Tim as an osteopath and I also knew that he treated conditions beyond regular musculoskeletal aliments.  I asked Tim if could treat hypertension sufferers.  His initial response was that there are several causes of high blood pressure and, although he could not necessarily treat hypertension itself, he could possibly treat the underlying causes of the condition.

Any preconceptions I had that osteopathic treatments involved painfully body contortions were quickly dispelled during my first treatment.  Tim used very gentle manipulation of both my cranium and spine.  It was obvious from the very first session that these were effecting some change in my body.

In addition to these clinical treatments, Tim gave me access to some self healing techniques that I could implement myself between sessions – part of the Peak Performance programme he operates.  The combined results have gone way beyond what I could have reasonably expected to achieve.  My diastolic pressure came down from ‘High’ to ‘High-normal’ (British Hypertension Society classifications) within 3 weeks of my first treatment and down to ‘Normal’ within 2 months. Within that same 2 month period I managed to lose half a stone in weight and reduce my alcohol intake to one quarter of my previous unit count.

I am also now finding the time and energy to take more exercise and have cut out some unnecessary indulgence foods. Crucially though, through the Peak Performance programme I have been able to find the motivation to implement the standard medical advice which I had previously studiously ignored.

I have discovered that the techniques that Tim Marris practices can be used to treat a range of conditions other than those conventionally associate with osteopathy.  I would certainly refer Tim Marris to others regardless of any preconceptions that might exist about what can be achieved through osteopathy.

 Yours sincerely,

Last year I attended a presentation by Osteopath Tim Marris.  He described a case study of a child he had worked with.  The child had had a difficult birth and his body had never fully recovered from the trauma.  Tim described the sorts of body movements that were typical of this scenario.  I immediately identified with a friend of mine’s son.  The boy was now 11 years old and I had watched him grow-up from day one.  Although an intelligent boy he had struggled with academic work at school, although fit and active he displayed awkward body movements and often found fine dexterity difficult.  This  would often lead to frustration, irrational tantrums and obsessive behaviour.

The more Tim describe the case he had been working on, the more I identified with my friend’s son.  I knew that he had had only just survived birth and had been in incubation for some time after. The next time I saw my friend I broached the subject.  The boy had had cranial osteopathy before, when his parents lived in the Midlands and had got some benefits from it.  Although my friend showed an interest she somehow never quiet got around to doing anything about it.  The family had just moved and there was a lot happening on several fronts.

A year went by before the subject reoccurred.  The boy had become increasingly volatile and my friend confessed to being desperately concerned about him.  I reminded her about Tim and this time an appointment was made.  The boy was wary about the appointment but Tim soon put him at ease.  He enjoyed the treatment and experienced immediate benefits on the first session.

A few weeks ago I found myself babysitting for the boy.  I was delighted at the change that had occurred in him.  Even though I knew him well, he was often reticent and withdrawn.  However, over pizza he was unusually talkative.  He asked me how my recent holiday was, he wanted to know what the landscape was like in Sardinia and what fish had I seen whilst snorkelling.  He is soon to move abroad himself and was describing the house they where he is going to be living, the school he is going to be going to and the activities that he was going to be doing. The thing that struck me most was that he was far less anxious, more self-assured and generally more confident about himself and his future.

My friend is very glad that I referred her to Tim Marris, so much so that he is now treating her daughter for an unrelated condition.  It is clear to me that there are so many more applications for osteopathy than I had previously realised.

Mr T Marris

I would like to thank you for the professional treatment afforded me over the last few months.

Your expert care has resulted in a complete cure of my sciatica without any medical assistance. I was astounded at how such a few and, what appeared to be, simple actions have resulted in this total remedy.

I would not hesitate in recommending you and your treatment methods to anyone that may benefit from your professional help.

Thank you again,

Nina Dobson

10 October 2007

Dear Reader,

I recently went to visit a friend who knew I had  been unwell. My friend was going through a protracted separation and had reached the point where the house needed to be sold. Her daughter was at the age where she would be moving to secondary school next year. Her older bother had made the move last year and was unhappy at his new school.

The crunch had come and decisions needed to be made about where to move to, the complexities of the children's education and the access rights of their father etc. We sat around the breakfast table and trawled through the details. The conversation went around in circles with each and every issue seeming insurmountable to resolve.

"The worst thing is that I banged my head two weeks ago and have had a thumping migraine headache ever since." She told me. "I've been to see my doctor but he can find nothing wrong. It's terrible. I can't apply myself to anything at the moment. It's my 50th birthday in two weeks. I had planned to have a party but I just can't face organising it."

My friend already knew Osteopath Tim Marris, so I cannot genuinely claim this as a referral, but my visit did prompt her to pay him a call.

Less than a week later she phoned me back . "I went to see Tim Marris and I'm feeling so much better. He did some manipulation work on my cranium, my headache has gone completely and I've got some of my old energy back. I've decided to go ahead with the party. Bring a bottle."

By the time the party came along, she had made a crucial decision about her daughter's school, and from there other things were falling into place about where to look for houses etc.

The party was a tremendous success and my friend was in much greater spirits following her treatment. Not only had Tim relieved the immediate symptoms of pain, but my friend had come away from the session with a more positive outlook that was helping her to deal with the daunting life issues that she was facing.
